D&C 121:7-8

7 My son, peace be unto thy soul: thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;
8 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.

This passage of scripture is so inspiring, even to us today, and I believe that it conveys very vivid imagery. I can just imagine Joseph Smith in the jail at Liberty, pleading with God while he suffered not only physical afflictions, but psychological and social adversity and afflictions as well. The Lord's promise to him that he will be exalted on high, and triumph over all foes, paints a beautiful image in my mind's eye of Joseph standing with God, exalted and shining. It is beautiful to think about, and drives me to stick out any adversity or afflictions I may face.

I love that scripture dude. I like how you analyzed it. But what do you think are some of the tools the Lord uses?

I love this verse. I also think the diction used affects the emotion of the reader. The usage of peace sends a strong message of comfort. The imagery is also very effective in this verse. It helps me see the big picture and how small of a moment our trials will be with the help of God.

This scripture has helped my through the hardest times in my life. I think this verse is very kirotic for those who are in need of comfort.
