Satan's Strategy

2 Nephi 26: 22
And there are also secret combinations, even as in times of old, according to the combinations of the devil, for he is the founder of all these things; yea, the founder of murder, and works of darkness; yea, and he leadeth them by the neck with a flaxen cord, until he bindeth them with his strong cords forever.

Throughout this verse, I like how Satan is compared to the founder of murder and bad things. I puts the perspective in your mind that if you do any of those things then you have founded your beliefs in Satan's. I also like the metaphor used to describe how Satan leads people astray. Speaking of a flaxen cord and strong cords puts an unpleasant thought in your mind, making the reader want to attempt to stay far away from that.

I also think that that metaphor is very powerful. I definitely don't want to sin if I think that I'll be bound by chords forever!

Good use of metaphor for sure! Metaphors are powerful because they just straight up say what something is like. Very effective in a positive or negative way.

This is such a great verse, for all the reasons you said.
I think it is so amazing the power and effect words can have on people. This particular verse evokes a lot of emotion in the reader because of the mental image the last sentence brings. It is writing like this that resonates with us for a long time and will not be forgotten.

I think this is a very powerful scripture. The metaphor helps us to be able to relate it to our own lives; I know I have seen people who have been led away by satan with a flaxen cord.
