I'm a sports fan. When I get home I usually flip on ESPN and see what is happening in the sports world. I did a search for some sports quotes to use for this assignment and found more than a few. Charles Barkley has a history of being able to say whatever he wants (often controversial) and walk away like a stunt man after flipping a car. I don't know if this counts as "writing" and I have no idea if he said it or if it was written for him to read, but it captures his personality of "tell it like it is".
"These are my new shoes. They're good shoes. They won't make you rich like me, they won't make you rebound like me, they definitely won't make you handsome like me. They'll only make you have shoes like me. That's it."
I find the frankness with which he speaks to be rather comical because it's true. I like it because it isn't flowery or sugar coated. The choice of words is definitely what makes it appeal to me, and who can listen to Charles Barkley talk without laughing at him? "Man, that's just turrible."

Hahahahahaha! Charles Barkley is one crazy guy. That quote is so funny, because I can just imagine him saying that. I love the SNL parodies of him as well, they kill me every time.
Dang that quote is hilarious! I also love quotes that just say things how they are. Not ones that try to make things seem like something they're not. It's also funny because some people actually think that if they have shoes like someone they become more like that person. Weird stuff...
I love Charles Barkley. "That play was turrible, just turrible" I also like quotes that say it like it is.
I think humor is a huge part of rhetoric. It's a direct appeal to ethos, because everybody loves people who can make them laugh. Humor can easily be used as pathos in the same way, and it's a good counterargument to logos, as sarcasm easily discredits other people's opinions and belittles the person making the argument.
And it's just plain funny.
Charles Barkley is definitely one of those basketball commentators that makes you watch a game just to listen for some ridiculous self made analogy.
