Youtube and Myspace Blocked? 2

This is one argument for Youtube/Myspace staying blocked on campus.

After my initial outrage of seeing that Youtube was blocked on campus, I stopped to think about the reasons why this was so. I came up with a few, and the reason that stood out the most to me was this: Youtube is dangerous, especially when it comes to pornography. We have all been warned by church leaders about the dangers of this growing disease. Youtube and Myspace are both sanctuaries for pornographic materials.

The questions I have are:

Is this a good point to make?

Will this make people uncomfortable?

Am I coming at this issue too strongly?

I agree, we are all adults and we have been warned and know better. If we go against that then we will be under of condemnation.

I still think you're coming at this issue not knowing the real reasons. As I mentioned in a previous comment, I believe the reason that youtube is blocked is primarily for bandwidth issues. I would expect that pornography has very little to do with the decision on youtube also, as youtube implements porography filters on their own servers. BYU uses other methods for filtering pornographic material - not just certain sites.

answers to your questions,

1. I think that this is a great point to make, though it would help if you included the opposing reasons for keeping youtube and myspace blocked with in the passage.
2. It has the potential to make people feel uncomfortable but for the most part college students should be able to read this and understand what it is you are trying to say.
3. No, not really. This is the same way the prophet and the apostles approach this topic that has destroyed many lives.

This point is a fine argument. It should not make people uncomfortable; it is the truth. I don't think I would make pornography the only argument for blocking these sites. There are other problems with you tube and myspace.

I like this topic I think it is really good. I like the argument about pornography however I think there are indeed some other arguments. I mean it takes up a lot of space so there's other things to consider but it's good to sometimes just focus on one thing.

I think this is a good point to make. Most people complain about not being able to use Youtube and do not realize some of the reasons why it is blocked. The content of Youtube and Myspace is one reason, and it is good that you addressed it. Do not worry about making the reader uncomfortable. Your potential audience should be able to deal with this topic no problem.

I think the argument is fine but I think there are other arguments that should be focused on as well. I also don't think this will make the reader feel uncomfortable because the dangers of pornography are constantly talked about.

I think it is a legitimate argument, but I also think it is the most obvious one. Use it, but also think of others that may not be so obvious, so as to persuade a broader audience.

I think this is a good argument, but be sure to address the other side of the issue. Make sure you really sell your ideas.
