This article is in response to another about the affect of Yao Ming and the NBA in China. This article goes on to examine other sports, such as soccer and baseball, and how the world has adopted them into their cultures.
-How does the rest of the world view highly american sports (i.e. NFL, MLB)?

-Why is soccer the most popular sport played outside the US?
-What other countries have a successful professional sports culture?
-Do TV channels such as ESPN have an impact on cultures and sports played?
-Do the sports played in the Olympics play a part in deciding which sports are most popular world wide?

The way Europe, South America and Africa freak out about soccer certainly comes to mind! That's globalization for sure...
Not only have other countries adopted American sports, but America has adopted many sports from other countries. What countries have significantly impacted American sports?
I am really interested in this topic and am strongly considering it for my paper. It is very interesting to see how many foreign players there are in the NBA and there are other examples of this in other sports. It is interesting though how football has not really gone anywhere. Do you think it is because the name conflicts with "futbol" in Europe?
