Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”
Mathew 7:7 incorporates the use of a powerful metaphor. The metaphor is seen when Jesus states “knock, and it shall be opened unto you”. Jesus is probably not referring to a literal door that we should knock on but actually uses this as a symbol or metaphor that if we ever need help from Him or have a question, all we need to do is make the effort to ask for help and He will be there no matter what. This is such a powerful statement and brings so much hope to us. This scripture is poetically and beautifully written.

Have you seen the painting that goes along with this scripture. The door in the picture has no handle on the outside, symbolizing a need for us to open ourselves to Christ because he is always knocking. This is a very powerful verse.
I like Scott's comment, that painting and the whole verse really shows how much Christ cares for us. He is always there for us just waiting for us to open unto him.
I have seen that painting. It is really amazing and one of my favorites. I love what powerful emotions some artwork carries and the lasting effect they have on us.
I also love how words and writing can bring such a vivid mental image to us. They both can do the same thing, but in different ways.
