Melting Pot of America

If a person were asked to describe the population of the United States of America, a possible description would include the diversity of races and cultures throughout the nation. They have made up the population of this country for centuries. In the article “Lecture on International Flows of Humanity” by Kofi Annan, he argues that immigration has actually helped the United States’ economy. There have been many lectures, speeches, and other forms of media that have argued the different viewpoints of this controversial issue. However, Kofi Annan uses different rhetoric tools in order to encourage the audience to believe as he believes. He uses allusions, metaphors, and rhetorical questions to captivate the reader and make them want to keep reading.

I think you have a really great analysis on this article. One criticism I would make is that I think there should be a concluding sentence to tie everything together. The rest sounds great, good luck on writing your final draft!

You have a great start on your first paragraph. I love your writing style and think that your tone is appropriate for the assignment. I think you have an interesting hook. Your voice seems to come out in your writing, which is great. Good luck with the rest of it, I am interested to see how it pieces together.

This is a very heated and complicated topic to unravel. You did a really nice job of introducing Annan's argument and you identify the tools he uses in an effective manner.
