God is the Word and the Light

John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
This scripture begins with a great syllogism. The word was in the beginning and the word was with God so God has been since the beginning and he is the word. I looked on the internet for literary devices and found this sweet word, Anadiplosis, which is the repetition of several words for emphasis. John makes use of anadiplosis to state with great importance that God created everything and without God nothing would have been created. A metaphor is used to describe our journey through mortality. “Life was the light of men.” This metaphor tells us of our mission while on this earth. Life is our light and we must find the light while we are on the Earth, meaning that we must find God because he is the source of light. God is the light that shines in the darkness, but if we are not looking for the light we cannot comprehend it.

I like the research you did into this scripture and also the time you took in finding different tools used than just the ones we have studied. I love this verse a lot, i like how Jesus is reverence to the Word.

I enjoyed the research you did on this analysis. the word anadiplosis that you found to be a repetition of words or phrases is interesting. I think John used this type of style on purpose to get his point across. Really interesting.
