Intro:
1. For my intro I was thinking about telling a story of the effects shoreline development is having on a local beach in San Clemente California. This would give the reader a firsthand view of the disaster shoreline development is having on the environment.
2. Following the story I’ll continue on with a Sea Pollution fact, “In fact over 80% of all marine pollution comes from land-based activities and many pollutants are deposited in estuaries and coastal waters. This will give the readers a realization the size of pollution given from shoreline development.
3. Thesis: By limiting shoreline development, coastlines across the globe will be cleaner and more sanitary for marine and human life.
Body:
1. In this paragraph I plan to talk about the main causes of pollution in the ocean. I’ll give quotes such as one from Water Pollution, stating “One of the reasons that the water pollution problem is so severe is that it is not actually illegal to dump pollutants into water bodies.” Giving people an idea of causes of pollution gives them realization of how this problem is coming to pass.
2. Following this paragraph I will introduce the growth of development on coastlines throughout the globe with the source that I have not come across yet with my new narrowed topic. I would like it to be on the borderlines of coastal developments across rich soiled ecosystem shores.
3. Spinning off that, I want to tie the coastal development to problems that come from building civilization on strong ecosystem beaches. An example would be from Surfers against sewage, “Across the world, about half of all sewage is dumped into water bodies in its original form. No efforts are made to disinfect the sewage or to remove especially harmful pollutants.”
4. By talking about sewage, I also want to add the problems of waste being dumped into the ocean with harmful chemicals that for some reason don’t seem to be hold against by any government. In Sea Pollution, “Black tar-like oil is sometimes washed onto beaches not only causing a nuisance to holidaymakers but also killing many sea-birds. The oil mainly comes from tankers which wash out their holds while out at sea to save time in port.”
5. After showing all the different types of pollution development causes. I want to bring up the factors it has on human’s health. Ocean Pollution Effects on Living Resources and Humans states that bacteria from sewage and chemicals are causing great health issues to human beings across the globe.
6. After talking about human health. I want to consider to the paper the Marine life and how pollution is causes great stresses upon marine populations. “The effect these have on the marine environment depends on the type of pollution, the size of the pollution and where the pollution occurs. Some marine environments and types of marine life are more sensitive than others to pollution. The pollution may damage individual sea creatures or plants, or it may damage whole communities of different living things.” Marine or Ocean Pollution.
7. To finish off my paper I want to talk about environmental groups that are striving to stop ocean pollution across the globe. I haven’t found the right environmentalist group to quote yet, but I want to talk about a group that is having a large influence on the population.
Conclusion:
1. To conclude my paper, I’m going to finish the story I started in the introduction paragraph. From there, I want to sum up the issues of pollution on the coast by development and tie it with the story on the beach in San Clemente. In conclusion I want to influence others to act and support to save coastlines across the globe.

I think your structure works really well. Your points tie all your paragraphs together well. I didn't really see many times that you talked about the other side of the issue. You could maybe talk about how those who cause the pollution are rationalizing it. Also maybe focus your paper more on how to change it instead of just on the problems. You have a good list of how this is damaging but I didn't see many examples of how to change it.
I think overall pollution is looke at as a bad guy. The issue i'm trying to hit is governments are ignoring and turning there eyes to the pollution coastal development is creating. In my paper I want to bring that ignorance of government to the reader to influence them to join a group and help get a standard on coastal development and pollution.
