Unlike other sports, college football believes in a computer device to rank teams based upon stats and difficulty of schedule rather than the common standings and playoff competition to figure out a National Championship team. With the 2008 season ending, one question still remains. Were the Florida Gators the best football team in the nation?
Sports have become one of America’s top media attractions with college football at the head. In many cases, the AP computer that ranks these teams has left season after season without absolute closure of who truly is the best team. This article for the most part brings attention to sports fans, and to those who support competition to be aware of the flawed AP computer rankings in college football. It also carries out the proposal of bringing a playoff system into football to resolve the conflict.
Overall, the article lets a wide audience know of this conflicts importance. Although not the top of President Barrack Obama’s agenda, in an espn.com article, he voices his opinion to support a playoff system in college football bringing the idea that this topic isn’t just for the typical sports fanatic.
This topic is of great interest to me. Football is America’s sport and even with the President, whom I don’t particularly fancy is making time to fight for a playoff I believe that others should voice their opinions to help resolve the conflict.
