Globalization and the Clothing Industy

This article was about the globalization of the clothing industry. It talked about sweat shops and how globalization has caused many to work in inhumane conditions with salaries they can hardly live off of.

I can't remember which class we discussed this in, so if you've already heard this - my bad! Personally - as much as sweatshops sound like a horrible thing, if they shut down the sweatshops the kids families have no money, and more people end up going into prostitution. So the sweatshops aren't the best thing, but if people don't replace the sweatshops with anything the kids end up being even worse off.

I agree with Sean. It is true that most sweat shops are not ideal places to work, but is other work available for those who work there? I mean, if they are making something compared to nothing, there can't be too many complaints.

It's sad that these sweatshops exist and I think about how we all continue to buy stuff that we know were made in these conditions. But I am with Sean on this one those families need that money as little as it is. Sad but true.

Yeah, that was actually one of the articles we discussed for this class so I remember that point of view. I will make sure to research alternatives if I actually end up doing this topic.
